A Good Wolf presented by the Bozeman Doc Series
The Bozeman Doc Series continues on Sunday, November 24th, at 7pm at the Emerson Center with the Montana premiere of the new documentary, A Good Wolf. Director Ramey Newell will attend and take part in a Q&A after the film. A Good Wolf explores the ongoing conflict over wildlife management in the Stampede Corridor adjacent to Denali National Park, as seen through three primary viewpoints: wildlife advocates, local hunters and trappers, and Denali National Park biologists. It is a 40-year conflict, and a volatile struggle between competing human interests on public lands. Armed with thorough data, biologists and activists bring a new proposal to state authorities, hoping to regain protections for wolves near the park boundary. However, local trappers are adamantly opposed. While humans battle over the fate of this unique strip of land and its denizens, the film chronicles the story of Wolf 1202 — an extraordinarily old matriarch, now injured and alone — as she attempts to survive in the harsh Alaskan wilderness. Over the course of three turbulent years, the film weaves together the disparate threads of the story. All the while, the fate of some of America’s most iconic animals and wild places hang in the balance. The film world-premiered at this year’s Mountainfilm Fesitval in Telluride. "Compelling...emotionally charged...sheds light on the intricate and often contentious relationships between humans and the natural world.” Skyblue Overland “Nuanced, picturesque and complicated.” The Sheet Doors open at 6:30pm.
