Notorious BOZ w/ Soren Kisel
Notorious BOZ is a long-form improv show that celebrates the city of Bozeman, its history and its incredible citizens. Every show will feature a guest "Armando" or monologist who will share stories from their life. The cast will then use those stories as inspiration to create characters and scenes and bring it all together in a completely hilarious and improvised show! This week's Armando is Soren Kisel! Soren is a comedy writer for the stage, a librettist, an author, and an improv performer. Primarily, he is the co-author of Broad Comedy, an all-women sketch comedy and political satire troupe written with his wife comedian Katie Goodman, which—besides being a fan favorite in Bozeman—was a Time Out New York Critics’ Pick for their Off-Broadway run at New York City's SoHo Playhouse, was featured on Showtime’s The Green Room, and has garnered millions of views online. Soren also recently penned a modern non-racist adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado, which London’s Opera Now magazine called “ingenuously written and hilariously funny… rivalling the best of Rossini's comic creations.” Soren is the author of the children’s books The Night Our Parents Went Out and Once Upon a Tree, and has a new book coming soon from POW Publishing, A Is For Bear. This won’t be his first time on Last Best Comedy’s stage—this year he and Kent Davis created the paranormally-farcical Odd Box, a two-person improv show that played here through the summer. Soren and Katie are also the founders and, for 30 years now, the Camp Directors of Bozeman’s Camp Equinox Summer Theater Day Camp, which in fact gave some of the performers in Last Best Comedy’s improv teams their very first taste of improv. Soren has a second-degree blackbelt in taekwondo, and is ordained in the Plum Village Zen Buddhist tradition, which means he could kick your butt if he wasn’t so darned peaceful.
