“We’re inviting residents to stop by, ask questions, and walk part of the corridor with us,” said Transportation and Engineering Director Nicholas Ross. “Fowler plays a key role in our community, and we’re committed to keeping the lines of communication open. It’s important to us to hear directly from neighbors and offer support however we can.”

 

Community members are invited to join at any time between 6 and 6:30 p.m. for the Q&A session. Project team members will be available to discuss project details, talk through the 60% design plans, and answer any questions community members may have regarding the project. The walking tour will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m., starting at the south leg of the Oak Street and Davis Lane roundabout.

 

Attendees are advised that this is an outdoor walking event and should dress accordingly. In the event of inclement weather - such as heavy rain or extreme temperatures - a new venue will be announced on the project website at least 24 hours in advance and shared with those subscribed to the project email list.

The Fowler Avenue Connection Project began with its pre-design phase in fall 2021, focusing on evaluating existing conditions, conducting environmental and traffic analyses, gathering community input, and estimating potential costs.

 

In August 2022, the project team delivered a Final Pre-Design Report and presented findings to the Transportation Advisory Board and City Commission. With community feedback and analysis in hand, the Commission directed staff to move into the design phase.

 

The 30% design was completed and shared in May 2024, followed by another round of community input. With that feedback and other refinements incorporated, the 60% design is now ready for public review. The final 90% design is expected to be completed by January 2026.
