"Standing in the River" Sara Mast Retirement Exhibition

We warmly invite you to gather in celebration of Sara Mast, Professor of Painting and Drawing, as she begins a new chapter with her retirement from MSU. Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. for an evening honoring Sara's career and creative legacy. The celebration will coincide with the opening of her exhibition, Standing in the River, on view at the Helen E. Copeland Gallery in Haynes Hall.

Sara's journey as an artist has taken her from Queens College in New York, where she earned her MFA, to international recognition in galleries and collections around the world. Her work-layered, innovative, and deeply rooted in the dialogue between art and science, has been featured in more than 30 corporate and private collections, as well as in several key publications that explore the intersections of creativity, material, and imagination. She is represented by Gallery 1871 in Chicago and by Brackett Creek Exhibitions in Bozeman, New York, and Portland.

This reception is both an opportunity to experience Sara's latest work and to come together as a community to celebrate her artistry, mentorship, and many contributions to MSU. We hope you'll join us in honoring Sara, sharing memories, and sending her forward with warmth and gratitude.
