As an advocate, educator, and speaker on Indigenous cultural revitalization and ecological restoration, Jason will share how restoring conservation buffalo strengthens Tribal sovereignty, advances ecological balance, and revitalizes vital cultural traditions for the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes. Jason Baldes is the Senior Tribal Buffalo Program Manager for the National Wildlife Federation’s Tribal Partnerships Program. An enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Land Resources & Environmental Sciences from Montana State University, focusing his research on the restoration of buffalo to Tribal lands. Since 2016, Jason has established resolution-based agreements and helped restore more than 100 conservation buffalo to the Wind River Reservation. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Wind River Native Advocacy Center, where he was instrumental in passing the Wyoming Indian Education for All Act.
