Draft Northwest Bozeman Area Plan Available for Public Review

BOZEMAN – The City of Bozeman is releasing the draft Northwest Bozeman Area Plan for public review and inviting the community to provide feedback at engage.bozemanmt.gov/goochhill. This marks the next phase of a long-range planning effort for approximately 3,000 acres in the northwest corner of the City’s growth boundary.

The draft plan builds on input gathered during the first phase of community engagement, which included two public open houses, a pop-up event at the Bozeman Farmers Market, and meetings with local stakeholders. Those efforts brought together more than 200 community members and stakeholders to share priorities, opportunities, and concerns related to the future of Northwest Bozeman.

Four upcoming work sessions will provide an opportunity for boards and commissioners to review the draft plan, ask questions, and discuss recommendations before formal adoption proceedings begin:
Oct. 13 — Gallatin County Planning Board
Oct. 14 — City Sustainability Board
Oct. 19 — City Community Development Board
Oct. 20 — City Commission

These work sessions are part of the review process and provide an opportunity for local decision-makers and board members to discuss the draft plan and consider community input before the formal adoption process. The Bozeman City Commission will ultimately be responsible for adopting the Northwest Bozeman Area Plan.

The Northwest Bozeman Area Plan will provide guidance for how the area north of Durston Rd and west of Harper Puckett Rd may develop over time, addressing future land uses, transportation connections, parks and open space, infrastructure coordination, and protection of natural resources. The plan is intended to provide a framework for future growth while aligning with the Bozeman Community Plan and other adopted City plans.

Public feedback will be documented and considered as the plan is refined. Comments will also help inform discussions with City and County boards and the City Commission before the plan moves into the formal adoption process.
