Soon we will be hanging a new calendar in the office and looking forward to a new year, but before we get too far into 2017 planning, resolution making and goal setting let’s reflect on what 2016 has allowed Bozeman Magazine to share with you.


2016 allowed us to share twelve local artists with you, one on each cover. We feature the work of a local artist on our cover each month and an artist bio or statement with additional images within the magazine. The Bozeman art community is important to us and this is a great way for us to share artists with you. Music is another important part of the Bozeman culture, not only do we feature as many Bozeman music events as possible on our events calendar, we had the chance to interview some cool musicians in 2016 including Bozeman Symphony Maestro Matthew Savery, Gregory Alan Isakov, John Mayer, Muzzy Braun, Dave Schools, Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes, Kyle Gass and more. In 2016 we brought you opinions from our contributing writers on local issues like affordable housing, Bozeman’s Strategic Plan, medical marijuana, Montana politics, water conservation, the Forest Plan for The Custer Gallatin National Forest and more. For the publishers of Bozeman Magazine, Angie and Brian Ripple, 2016 brought the tenth birthday of our oldest child, born the summer before we started publishing. Science fairs, ski days, the death of our 18 year old cat, concerts, hot spring soaks, roadtrips, two fortieth birthdays, camping trips, kid camps, and way more. We made it to 115 issues published, grew our readership and distribution and held it all together with three rambunctious kids in tow. 2016 went by so fast I can’t believe it’s nearly over!

In 2017 we intend to grow the magazine and bring it to new heights. We are starting by printing more copies, 9,000 copies will go out to our 200 locations this month, 10,000 of the January Bozeman’s Choice issue will go out in early January. As we grow the magazine we will also grow our team, as we grow our team we will grow and improve our content, as we grow our content we will add more pages, all in an effort to bring interesting art and culture to people hungry for something new.
