March Cover Artist: Hanna Jakab

Hanna Jakab is a Bozeman–based artist and graphic designer. She grew up in Wasilla, Alaska, and found a love for cold winters and beautiful landscapes. Living in Alaska taught her to pay attention—to snow on mountains, to wildflowers, to the calm of a lovely landscape. That early love of the outdoors eventually led her to Bozeman, where she has found much joy in experiencing all Montana has to offer.

By day, Hanna works as a graphic designer, which she loves because it lets her be creative every day. She graduated from Montana State University, where the graphic design program gave her practical experience, but—more importantly, lifelong friendships. Hanna has endless appreciation for the people who make creative communities thrive. From MSU’s School of Art and Exit Gallery to sketching on tip jars downtown, to designing logos for small businesses, Bozeman has continually surprised Hanna with the unexpected places creativity shows up.

Outside of client work, Hanna’s heart belongs to watercolor. It’s her favorite medium due to its unique textural qualities, and she also loves fountain pens. She especially loves plein air painting—the peace, the quiet. There is no better day than heading to a favorite river spot, or stopping to paint at the crest of a hike on a hot summer afternoon. For her, painting is both reflection and reset—a way to slow down, and reconnect with what matters.
