The one truth about Montana is that no matter how deep our roots run, somewhere, sometime we all started somewhere else. Welcome to the Treasure State! I'm glad you've found such a great connection in the grand tradition of Christmas tree hunting!
“One of the issues that arose during the interview was the sales of alcohol on the premises during the show or music events. David and Nancy believe first and foremost the venue is not about alcohol revenues or being able to put music on while serving patrons alcoholic beverages, first and foremost it is a music venue recording studio and the alcohol will come last. I feel there has been a stigma surrounded around opening a new music venue or venue in Bozeman without the ability of having a liquor license or a beer and wine license, I applaud David and Nancy for taking on this challenge and having the courage to carry on a project of such magnitude, and putting the liquor or alcohol issues on the sideline and focusing solely on the entertainment aspect and the fact that Bozeman is in dire need of such a facility.”
“Are you kidding? Any new venue in Bozeman is welcome and long overdue! David is a great guy with an amazing project coming together and it could very well let us bring back smaller, more gourmet musical events to Bozeman. Add to it a recording studio and an amazing Meyer Sound house sound system and all the components of creative fun are there! There seems to finally be some real momentum in Bozeman for creating some proper performance spaces. David’s venue creates a “development” sized venue where you can bring in smaller shows and promote the artist on the way up. We have the Emerson at 700 seats which is great but Bozeman still needs something in the 1,000 to 1,500 seats to really round it out but this is a great step. We almost had a Hooligans NYE party in there but couldn’t quite pull it off with construction schedules. We look forward to getting in there and bringing some music to town.”
”This new venue will have huge implications for the variety and quantity of live music in Bozeman. The anticipated capacity (350-400) fills a much needed gap in the Bozeman live music scene. After seeing the renovations nearly complete, it is obvious that the care put into the design of this room will create for an outstanding atmosphere for the artists as well as for the fans when it is utilized for concerts.”
I had no idea that so many people enjoy the park during the winter season. It is good to learn that there is a concern for the welfare of park wildlife. After all, it's their park too
I know this is late, but circumstances led me to seeing it just now. As one of the three co-founders of Phases of the Moon, I'm gratified that you got exactly the vibe we tried to create.
It's good to know it worked! Thanks so very much!!!
As part of their Winter 2015 tour, Twiddle is performing at Filling Station on Wednesday, February 25th with special guestsKitchen Dwellers. The band is quickly grabbing the attention of new fans with their jaw dropping improvisational skills and fresh multi-genre approach that blends reggae and funk with jazz and bluegrass, dismantling most preconceived notions of jam band culture. This may be the last chance to see Twiddle in such intimate venues; the band has been selling out shows throughout Colorado and the Northeast.
Twiddle, a Vermont-based quartet, dismantles most preconceived notions of jam band culture. Their fresh multi-genre approach conjures up rock, jazz, and bluegrass, but above all, masterfully blends reggae and funk. After whimsically jamming in the fall of 2004, the founding members of Twiddle immediately recognized creative chemistry. By their second semester at Castleton State University, Mihali Savoulidis and Ryan Dempsey were carefully intertwining harmony and fantasy, birthing band staples like “Frankenfoote” and “Gatsby the Great". Twiddle took Castleton by storm, toured the northeast, and composed a catalog of original music before becoming upperclassmen. 2007 manifested Twiddle’s debut release, The Natural Evolution of Consciousness. This breakout album showcased the band’s eclectic inspirations, imaginative lyrical abilities, and superb instrumentation. Twiddle’s sophomore production, 2011’s Somewhere on the Mountain, delves into the human spirit, speaking to our ambition, grief, and love. Their latest production, Live at Nectar’s, is a double disc live album recorded in August of 2013 at Burlington, Vermont’s Nectar’s. A clear hallmark of their career, Live at Nectar’s truly captures Twiddle in their element, the live experience. Currently Twiddle is shooting up the rows of festival lineups, packing prominent theaters, and inspiring each other. With sage songwriting and unmatched variety, Twiddle continues to exceed all expectations.
Dear Dad,
You have several great points in this article. Why in "new town" does a degree equal status and the need to brag about it is so nostalgic. I'm not saying that being well educated isn't important. After all, my education has created great work opportunities in a competitive market. However, my authentic happiness today has nothing to do with how much money I make, where I went to college or what degree I hold. I am proud to be your daughter and I am living life to it's fullest! Now that is something to brag about to those new town Californians.
PS-looking forward visiting Bozeman soon.
Moving to Bozeman this summer. I'll make sure to have my CV thoroughly memorized and ready to present. Or is it my ears and faux attentive listening skills that need the tune-up!? Ha!
Alexis I am so proud of you and the young woman you are. You have a knack that I believe you were born with and have had the opportunity to develop it further with the beauty you are surrounded by. MOM
