Article Trees, Bells, or Spiders? A Look at Downtown…

My family has been in the Gallatin for generations and I nor anyone else I know have ever called them spiders. It’s a dumb label the younger group of imports to the valley think is “cool” 🙄

Article Hunter's Hot Springs

Hi Cindy - thanks for a great summary. Do you know when the panoramic view of the Hunters area was taken (the second photo in your article)? If I'm seeing it correctly, my grandfather was born in the false-front building on the right, across the street from the hotel. He was a grandson of Bill and Fannie Officer, who helped manage the "old" hotel.

Post Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet Friday to…

This conversation is back to front. We are talking here about killing more wolves. Wolves are a keystone species that manage themselves. What needs to be managed here is the increase in diseased ungulates. Since hunters weaken the gene pool by killing the strongest animals, with the biggest racks, they weaken the gene pool. The wasting sickness is now affecting 30% plus of deer and elk. the more we allow hunters to kill the best and strongest, the worse this will get. We need more wolves not less to manage the deer and elk population. Since they kill the weakest, they have a beneficial influence on the gene pool. We can't afford to create a breeding ground for another pandemic, a variant of Creutzfeld-Jacobs disease, simply by pandering to hunters and exterminating wolves. We need more wolves, a lot more to rebalance the ecosystems we humans are destroying.
