Thank you for this article about Christmas in Bozeman 1866, particularly mentioning John Bozeman's death as a mystery. I also thank you for not perpetuating the false narrative John Bozeman was killed by his traveling companion Tom Cover. As we know from the investigation finalized by a visit to the Bear Tooths tribe, the same Native American that killed Little Dog confessed with his group of warriors that he had shot and killed Bozeman and wounded Tom Cover. Mr. Cover's account was verified during that visit. The Montana Post, July 20, 1867. In addition, the hypothesis that Tom Cover was jealous of John's affections for his wife Mary are difficult to believe since Mary arrived in Bozeman in May 1866 (The Montana Post (Virginia City, Montana) · 16 Jun 1866) and family records show she gave birth to their first child Atha Estella that November who later died in Riverside Ca, (Helena Weekly Herald
Helena, Montana
12 Dec 1872). Any affair between Mary Cover would have had to occur while nursing her newborn child.
Pat I lived in Bozeman with my Dad and Colleen in 1978-79. My dad Joe Boylan and Colleen owned the St. Bernard.. Reading your story brought back so many memories for me.
I lived in Willow Creek from 1963 until I graduated high school, lived on a ranch before moving to town. Attended Willow Creek school all 12 years. We were the Broncs, not Broncos! I remember Cindy Huston and her sister Sharon was in my class!
I am interested in finding an old brochure from Bridget Bowl. It is in the mid ‘70’s. The front cover has a little girl on it. I know it’s a long shot , but would love to have one.

The Gallatin History Museum found two Bridger Bowl brochures in their collection - one from 1983-84 and the other undated, although it looks to be 1960s. In any case, neither has a little girl on the front cover, so I think we came up empty there. Wish I could have helped.
Absolutely an experience that makes you want to go back in time and never leave. The feeling of warmth, simplicity and resilience emanates throughout the lodge with layers of colors, patterns and textures bringing the 1889 Barn to life.
I do all that and am still poor. White collar worker, single mom for 20 years with no child support. Low paying jobs. High cost of living in Maine. College loans taken due to promise of great jobs in education field when people retired (they didn't). I've never bought a new car or home. I live in a trailer. If you aren't born into money, or marry into it, and make any bad choices, you're stuck in debt for life I'm sorry to say. But God is good and I am trusting in His care while I do my part.
